Seasoning Your Charbroiler Grill Grates

Commercial Kitchen Parts
Have you replaced the grates on your charbroiler? Did you invest in a new charbroiler? It is essential that you season your grill grates before use. Follow these directions to season your grates:

  • Oil Your Grates – The first thing you want to do once you have installed your new grates is oil them. You should use high-heat cooking oil; peanut or canola oil will do just fine. Wipe down all of the surfaces to ensure that the grates have been covered. Make sure that the grates have been coated evenly and wipe off any excess oil.
  • Turn Your Grill On – Once oiled, you want to turn your grill on and heat it up for approximately 15 minutes. During this time, the oil will start smoking and burn off. If the oil has stopped smoking, then you can turn your grill off and let it cool.
  • Oil Every Day – If you use your charbroiler regularly, you want to make sure that you oil it every day. It will ensure that your grill grates will work correctly every time and have a consistent cooking temperature.
